Battle of the Inner West – representing the famous black and gold of Balmain
- February 10, 2025
It’s a massive year in rugby for Australia, with the British and Irish Lions returning to our shores, a tour that only occurs once every 12 years. The pressure will be on our boys in green and gold to beat the combined talent from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Before this tour occurs, it’s important to recognise the foundation teams of Aussie rugby and the importance the junior clubs play – introducing kids of all ages and sizes into the game of rugby.
The Balmain Wolves are a wonderful local club, and CobdenHayson have been foundation supporters since its inception. It wasn’t that long ago that a young Max Jorgenson played for the Balmain Wolves and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the most exciting young Wallabies in recent memory. His rugby journey started in Balmain at the Wolves and now he’s travelling the world and will be a key strike weapon for the NSW Waratahs in Super Rugby and for the Wallabies when they take on the Lions.
This Sunday, February 16, the Balmain Wolves are hosting the Battle of the Inner West between 8am-2pm at the iconic Leichhardt Oval and Leichhardt #2. Not only can you meet young Wallabies Max Jorgenson and Tame Edmed but it is the perfect opportunity to register for the season and get to know how the Balmain Wolves uphold their values of discipline, teamwork, respect and community. It’s called the game they play in heaven, but this year is set to be one of the biggest and most rewarding ones to date.
So this Sunday get around the Balmain Wolves at Leichhardt Oval and say g’day to the Balmain prodigy Max Jorgenson and fellow Wally Tane Edmed as they prepare for a huge year in rugby.
